'HONEY WEST' MADE DREAMS COME TRUE FOR MILLIONS OF WORKING WOMEN Life is still sweet for sexy
'60's TV star Anne Francis
Anne
Francis - who rocketed to fame as TV's sexy Honey West - is still leading the sweet life
... admired by countless fans who say they modeled their lives on her.
"I'm constantly amazed at people I run into
who adored the show. I didn't realize when I was doing it how much it was influencing
young women," the 68-year-old star told The ENQUIRER in an interview.
"I get baby boomer career women who come up
to me and say, 'If it weren't for Honey, I don't think I would have realized I could do
something else in my life.'
"Back in the 1960s, they didn't have role
models for single career womenand women didn't have many choices. They could maybe
be school teachers or nurses or housewives. Honey West showed them they could be
independent and have a career."
Anne, who starred in the pioneering detective
series on ABC-TV in 1965 and 1966, still enjoys working. She appeared recently on a couple
of Drew Carey shows as the mother of Drew's fiancée Nicki.
Alluring Annewho resides in Palm Desert,
Calif. is writing a book about her experiences as Honey West. She's also just put
together a calendar of photographs she had taken when she was a Hollywood starlet. It will
be out later this year.
The talented performer has been in 30 movies,
including "A Lion in the Streets," with James Cagney, "The Rack," with
Paul Newman, "Bad Day at Black Rock," with Spencer Tracy and "Funny
Girl" with Barbra Streisand.
"Barbra was extremely professional,"
said Anne. "She wasn't difficult for me to work with. Spencer Tracy was delightful.
Paul was very quiet and retiring. James Cagney really stands out in my mind because he was
such a strong, yet gentle, man" she said Anne had two short-lived marriages and
enjoys her two grown daughters. She also tries and has seen some pretty remarkable
thingsincluding UFOs.
"I've seen things that are
unexplainable," she said. "One time I saw triangles of flames in the sky. They
were shooting off in all directions. It was strange.
"Another time I was having dinner at a
friend's house in the hills and I looked out the window and this silver disk hovering in
the sky. It was just hanging there. I said 'Oh, my, look at that'and then it was
gone."
Lovely Anne had a special message for ENQUIRER
readers. "Tell them to keep on keeping on," she said. "You've got to do the
best you can with your time on this planet, so try to live life to the fullest and with as
much good cheer as possible."
