Hi Dear Friends:
Well…….Here we go again! The Mama dove is back in the nest under the eave next to my front door! So, the beat goes on doesn’t it? No matter what, “Mother Nature” sticks to her guns. Perhaps that’s not the right way of putting it. Dove business is peaceful.
As I write this, we are about to have rain. Grey, still and quiet. A friend just sent me pictures on the internet of Oswego, N.Y. and its deluge of snow. Wow! I remember snows when I was a child in upstate , N.Y. (York Town Heights), but we never had anything like that!
Yesterday my friend, Ellen, and I had a walk and picnic lunch at the Douglas Preserve here in Santa Barbara. A lot of acres on a cliff overlooking the Ocean below. Hang gliders drifted by and dogs at play stopped to investigate our lunch! We were able to see dolphins way below in the deep blue and sparkling ocean investigating the sea weed patches as they searched for a mid day snack! The islands are clear this time of year because of the rains, and the sea is awesome. Truly beautiful. As I said, we are due for more rain today and winds are now bending the trees as I look outside my window.
I thought the Oscars were fun this year and that Ellen did a lovely job as Hostess. A lot of happy people and upbeat behavior. Really well done, don’t you think? There are so many fine folk in the business. It is unfortunate we are bombarded by the escapades and mishaps of a few who are trying to find their way in a very tough arena. Too bad, but salacious gossip has become a huge business now hasn’t it? When I was young in the business and under contract, we were surrounded by studio PR people who watched out for us. A cocktail was removed from our hand if a “photog” was anywhere near, and we did not have crowds of them chasing after us. There was a mutual respect for each other and common courtesy. I don’t remember a crowd of photographers hanging around the clubs on Sunset strip either. Anyway, it was lovely to see the ladies dressed so beautifully, and the men as well. There was such a wonderful and relaxed appearance of camaraderie over all.
So, Spring is in the offing, and that will be a great relief to certain parts of our beautiful country. I wish you a truly good month ahead! Sunshine, blue skies and peace.
