Dear Friends:
As I write this, the winds have died down and leaf
blowers are going all over the neighborhood! We have had quite a
time of it, and I am not sure it is over yet! Winter in Santa Barbara
is really the most beautiful time. Clear skies and fresh air and
a nice nip in the air. I just got back from meeting friends for
lunch at the Brown Pelican, a place on the beach that is much loved
here. So many young people in their wet suits and kids digging in
the sand and enjoying their creative buildings of sand and sticks!
And don’t forget the happy smiling dogs eager to play ball with
their friends!
Makes me think of the poem I wrote many years ago
while waiting in my dressing room to go on set for some project
I was working on;
“Don’t
listen to the world, my friend.
It’s false and here’s it’s theme,
That evil reality,
And good is just a dream.
Don’t listen to the lies of those
Who’s hearts have lost the Light.
They suffer from amnesia,
And in ignorance they fight” |
I really have to work hard to remind
myself of this often these days. I can’t remember what was going
on in my life at the time the poem came to me, but I know it is
the truth.

There are times when we have absolutely no idea
what is going to happen in our life. Times when we all have a huge
bout with loneliness. None of us is excused from this I believe.
Accepting that there is very little over which we have any control
can be most frightening, or freeing. And these two states may pop
back and forth in our experience. Yet, it seems we must believe
in the ultimate good of all that occurs, and participate in the
good as best we can.
Resolutions for a New Year. We all have some I’m
sure. May we all be greatly inspired in those areas where we do
have some control.
New Year’s Blessings
