Dear Friends:
I just had lunch with a dear friend of mine (Eleanor)
who is just coming off of a bout with a inner ear infection which
bedded her down for some time, and she has progressed from a walker
to a cane now. It was her first lunch out for a few months and she
relished our visit on the wharf at Moby Dick's watching the boats
coming in and out of the Harbor. We call it Al's place. He is the
owner and he has Sinatra's music playing all the time. He is originally
a New Yorker, and once gave a stuntman friend of mine a picture
off the wall he admired, because he (Lauren Janes) had stunted for
Frank! I think I have mentioned Eleanor before. She celebrated her
seventy fifth birthday by jumping out of an airplane! I have never
had such a desire. She celebrates her eighty-eighth in August! She
looked stunning today at lunch. She's quite a dresser!
I think we are just about finished with the rain
here. I believe we have one more weekend of it to go. I have been
enjoying getting daffodils and tulips and watching them open. What
marvelous works of art they are. Extraordinary, the amazing designs
and beauty.
I wish to apologize once more for the fact that
I have been taking longer to get your requests answered. Please
bare with me. I really took quite a while to get over the lung thing
and still not quite up to speed with everything. Getting there.
The radio show for The Third Age
is going along nicely and I enjoy participating on most of them.
As you know, you can tune in on your computer. We go on air at eleven
a.m. here on Tuesdays in Santa Barbara on KZSB 1290. Just go to
NewsPress.com
and check the top left hand corner
for the connection. Adjust for your time zone. It is repeated at
nine p.m. on Tuesdays here and also Saturday afternoon at One. I
think you can also get the station on Thirdagefoundation
Rex Reed is coming out for the event on April 23rd
at the La Quinta Hotel. He is such a sweetie. The first time he
interviewed me, I was in my late twenties, and he was a baby. I
took him out to POP Pier in Santa Monica, and we went on the roller
coaster! That’s how I would unwind when I felt like screaming at
the tensions that being in The Business produced!
A calm boat ride on the Double Dolphin (a Catamaran)
will do it for me now.
Plans changed for my trip to D.C. to see Jane and
Rob and Brian. They are coming out here in June! He is going to
Vandenburg Air Force base for some brush up work before they move
on to Minot, North Dakota. He's been made Squadron Commander. She
and Brian will stay here at the house and Rob will come here for
weekends! I am scheduled to go to New York for a few days during
their stay here, but she and Brian have many friends in Santa Barbara,
and her sister, Maggie, as well.
I hope you are all well. Through with colds and
bugs, etc. Onward and upward! And, God Bless!
